About the role :
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design and optimize scalable data pipelines and storage solutions using Azure, ADF, DBT, Snowflake, and Synapse. You’ll contribute to a major data migration project and ongoing transformations that enable advanced analytics. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful data initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help shape best practices in data engineering and governance.
About the project:
Proxet is working with a leading global investment firm with over $1 trillion in assets under management on multiple data streams. The firm invests on behalf of institutions and individuals around the world with the goal of helping to create long-term, sustainable wealth.
We’re helping the client on the data engineering and data architecture side using the following tech stack Azure, ADF, DBT, Snowflake and Synapse. The first assignment is about a data migration project from MS Dynamics to Synapse and then from Synapse to Snowflake, after which it will continue with transformations in Snowflake in order to make data available for analytics purposes.
Who are we looking for?
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field;
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering roles;
- Understanding of data governance, data modeling & analysis and data quality concepts and requirements;
- Understanding of data lifecycle, DataOps concepts, and basic design patterns;
- Strong knowledge in SQL, database management system and optimization;
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and workflow orchestration tools - Azure ADF, DBT;
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python;
- 5+ years experience working with big data tools and cloud data platforms - Azure;
- Knowledge of modern data warehousing tools - Snowflake, and preferable Synapse
- Experience with data visualization tools;
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks;
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills for debugging complex systems;
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain scalable data processing systems and pipelines;
- Automate and improve data processes for scalability and efficiency;
- Optimize DB queries and systems for speed and efficiency;
- Design and implement efficient data storage solutions (e.g.,relational databases, data lakes, warehouses);
- Monitor data infrastructure for performance and reliability;
- Implement validation processes to ensure high-quality, clean, and reliable datasets, and advanced data governance frameworks;
- Develop tools/scripts to automate repetitive tasks for data processing and monitoring;
- Collaborate closely with the team members and other stakeholders;
- Provide technical support and mentoring to junior data engineers;
- Participate in data governance and compliance efforts;
- Document data pipelines, processes, and best practices;
- Evaluate and recommend new data technologies.
